Young Roots is recruiting for a Director to expand our fundraising, communications and influencing capabilities. This will involve securing grants from foundations/trusts, building our unrestricted funds and reserves by increasing donations and expanding our networks through events and direct relationships. The Director will be supported by trustees to develop and deliver a communications and advocacy strategy to reach more supporters, raise awareness of the issues faced by young refugees and asylum seekers, influence public opinion and policy makers, and increase our individual supporters/donors. S/he will join and represent Young Roots on networks/umbrella groups (e.g. Refugee Children’s Consortium), and request meetings with key stakeholders/policy makers. S/he will ensure young refugees and asylum seekers are offered opportunities to attend such meetings to share their views and/or receive training and support to respond to/generate media opportunities.
This is an exciting opportunity to join and lead our small team of dedicated staff and volunteers supporting young refugees in North West London and Croydon. The post is 3 days (22.5 hours) per week and pays £22,500 (£37,500 FTE).
