Challenge Events

Together we can transform lives

Up for a challenge in support of young refugees?

Challenge events are a great way to raise funds for a cause you feel passionate about while also setting yourself a personal goal. Whether its running, cycling, or perhaps an extreme 10-mile obstacle course, there are a variety of ways you can put yourself to the test while also fundraising for Young Roots – and we’ll be cheering you on!

Take on a challenge event and join our growing community, standing together with young refugees. You'll be supporting hundreds of young refugees as they access our intensive one-to-one Casework, youth and sporting activities, English language mentoring, youth leadership and access to specialist therapeutic support and legal advice via our weekly Advice & Support Hubs.

Below, you’ll find some events that you could take part in this year for Young Roots. You can also find out how to get involved if you have another challenge in mind.

Events Calendar

We are delighted to tell you that 2024 is the 20th anniversary of Young Roots, and we would like to share this milestone with you. Throughout the year, we will be organising various events you can get involved in to support our work with young refugees.

In the calendar, you can see the challenge events that will take place in 2024. Please do take a look at the upcoming events and consider taking on a challenge - whether you can run marathons, swim for miles, or cycle to Calais, there is something for everyone!

We are also looking for volunteers to assist us in managing the events scheduled for 2024. Click HERE to learn more information about the role.

If you have any questions about any of the above, please contact our Community and Events Fundraiser, Molly, at mollys@youngroots.org.uk.

Taking on your own challenge?

Alongside our events programme, we’d love to hear about other events you’d like to take part in.

You could cycle 108 miles, which is the distance between Calais and London – a distance you will know many young refugees travel in their efforts to seek safety. Perhaps you could do a triathlon with your friends, and get others to sponsor you. The possibilities are endless.

Whether you already have a challenge idea and want advice on how to make it a fundraising success, or if you have a place in an event and want to know how we can support you, please get in touch with us.
