Fundraise for us
If you appreciate the work that we do, and you would like to help, there are a number of ways in which you can fundraise for us. Do something you love doing, or maybe do something you've never done before.
Whether you’re hosting a quiz, doing a wedding or birthday fundraiser, doing a bake sale or a sponsored walk, every penny helps, and we are so grateful for your support.
The donations you raise help us to provide services and activities to support young refugees to realise their rights and fulfil their potential.
Host a fundraiser or event to support young refugees
Whether you do it with friends and family, or on your own, there is a whole range of activities and events you can organise to raise awareness and funds for your refugees! Here are just a few we’d like to share:
Birthday Fundraiser
Why not throw a birthday fundraiser and set up a collection on JustGiving? Instead of birthday gifts this year, you could ask your friends and family to support a cause close to your heart.
Quiz Night
After the quiz craze in 2020, you could build on this by hosting your own quiz which supports Young Roots. Whether it is asking your local pub to host your own quiz there, or doing one online, you can invite people to donate an entry fee and put their knowledge to the test.
Jumble Sale
Have second-hand clothes or bric-a-brac that needs to go? To build up the courage and incentive to sell it, you could host a jumble sale and pledge any monies that come your way to go towards supporting Young Roots and young refugees in London.
Host a workshop
Have a special skill to share? Whether it is teaching a signature dish, leading a yoga class or making flower arrangements, you could ask participants to donate to Young Roots in order to attend your workshop.
Host a Photo Exhibition
We’re in a world where everyone snaps photos constantly! You could ask people to donate their pictures for a photo exhibition and sell tickets for others to see them. You could even consider selling prints of the images to raise funds, or auction them off.
Film Friday Fundraiser
Are you a huge film fanatic? Then hosting a weekly cinema night could be a great way to share your love for films as well as raise money. You could find a local community room or show a popular film in your home. You can sell tickets, and even popcorn and drinks for guests to enjoy.
“I chose to fundraise for Young Roots as I whole heartedly support the work they do with the young people and had seen through a friend who works for the charity what an important organisation they are […] I hosted a ‘Restore and Release' workshop and asked those attending to donate whatever they felt able to contribute to Young Roots! We raised approximately £1200!” - Aimee, Mind-Body Practitioner
How we will support you
We know fundraising is a huge team effort, and this is why we want to support you all the way. We could:
Give you tips on how to fundraise
Offer some branded information for your event and for you to share with donors
Make suggestions on ways to thank you donors
Promote your fundraiser on our digital channels
Help you set up a fundraising page and show you how to best utilise it
No matter what, we want to help in making sure your experience is enjoyable and successful.
Setting up a fundraising page
JustGiving is one of the top fundraising platforms in the UK. There are many features which you can take advantage of, from posting photos of your fundraiser, making personalised thank you messages, posting your own updates and more.
Setting up a page is quick and simple, and best of all, any donations made on the page directly come to Young Roots – so no hassle with bank transfers and cash for you.
To set up a page, visit our JustGiving page by clicking the button below, and pressing the orange ‘Fundraise for Us’ button once directed to it.
If you planned to get the donations to us in another way, pop the Fundraising team an email at fundraising@youngroots.org.uk. This way, we can advise on the best way to get your collection safely to us and how your participation will impact our work and the young people we work with.
Not sure of what to do? We have you covered! You can either get in touch with us directly or get inspired by our online fundraising pack. You can access this by clicking the link below:
