Have your say at Young Roots

Hi there!

We know that being a young refugee can be very difficult. At Young Roots we really care about you.

We want to make sure we are doing the right things to support you. We want to make sure we are working in the best way for you.

For this, we need your help. We’d like you to have more power at Young Roots to help us make important decisions about how Young Roots is run. If you want to, we would love to have more conversations with you about what you want Young Roots to do.

We would like you to:

  • Decide what activities you would like to do at youth club

  • Decide what trips you would like to go on

  • Decide when and where youth clubs are held

  • Help us decide who Young Roots employs to work here

  • Volunteer to run youth clubs

  • Decide what we say together to the government about making things better for young refugees

  • Tell us whether Young Roots’ work is making you happy and less lonely.

  • Tell us whether Young Roots’ work is supporting you to learn new skills and access your rights.

Do you have any other ideas of things you'd like to help decide, change or improve at Young Roots?

Staff will come to youth club to speak to you about these things. But if you have anything you want to tell us at any other time you can send a message to a member of Young Roots staff or email us at london@youngroots.org.uk.

You may need to tell us about something that hasn’t gone so well, or you feel unhappy about, this is just as important as it helps us to support you better.

Your experience and feelings matter to us. But these are your thoughts to share if you are comfortable doing so.

There are lots of ways to show us what you think, participating in activities, filling out surveys, talking to your caseworkers and youth workers at youth club, attending events and participating in consultations and attending Young Roots meetings. You can find the way that suits you.

By working with us in this way, you can help make Young Roots better at supporting you and other young people.

We look forward to speaking with you!
